Thought of the Day:Faith in the divine plan turns uncertainty into a sacred adventure.
As soon as we go to the temple, the first thing we do is to ring the bell loudly and then press the eyes. Many people have thought that "do you do this to let God know that we have come or to wake God from his sleep?"
But the truth is, don't ring the bell to wake up God, wake up our sleeping brain! The sound of this bell has amazing power to control our mind and increase focus.
Temple bells are not made of just any iron or steel, it is a pure scientific combination. It contains various metals including cadmium, lead, copper, zinc, nickel, chromium and manganese in a certain measure.
Depending on the proportion of these metals mixed, the bell should make a sharp and prolonged sound when rung. This sound helps to unite our left and right brain.
When we ring the bell, the sound vibration (Echo) reverberates in our ears for at least 7 seconds. This 7 second period is the right time required to activate the seven healing centers (7 Chakras) of our body.
When this sound goes through our ears to the brain, all the unwanted thoughts there disappear. It works like pressing a "reset button" to the brain.

Keeping a thousand tensions at home and office, we arrive at the temple. If you pray to God in such a confused mind, you will not be able to concentrate.
As soon as we hear that sharp sound of the bell, our brain forgets everything else and wakes up (Alert Mode). Then we will be able to see and pray to God with a fresh mind.
According to science, sound waves have the power to destroy negative bacteria or viruses in the atmosphere. The vibrations generated when the bell is rung inside the Gudi Gopuram keeps the atmosphere clean.
That's why when we go inside the sanctum sanctorum we get a kind of peace and tranquility. It's not magic, it's the science of sound vibration.
From now on, when you go to the temple, don't just touch the bell and say hello, ring it loudly. Listen to that sound completely, you will know how much your mind will be lightened.
Our elders built the temple not only for devotion but also for our mental health.
Note:This article explains the scientific principles (Acoustics & Metallurgy) behind temple architecture and bell making. Sound therapy has been proven to increase mental concentration. However, it is not an alternative medical treatment for psychological stress.
